Those things are crap!

Yeah, I can write only that phrase and everybody around DA will know exactly what I'm talking about. But I want to explain myself and explain what I'm writing this.

I use to see DD and popular pictures everyday in my search for something good, something unknown and interesting that catch my eye. Every single day I see something good, something medium and something bad... Is always in my taste, sure. I don't judge deviations always in quality, but something about the theme, is funny... I'm not an art teacher, not a photo expert so I try to find something in my taste, if in that place is good too, sweet.

And I'm the kind of person that thinks: If you don't have something good to say, say nothing.

With those two tips, I must say that today I was seeing 's Ivy from Soul Calibur fanart and the well-deserved DD of and the comments drived me mad all the time.

Being popular or have a DD only transform you into a target for bitches complaying or trolls with comments not usefull nor interesting.

Yeah, I know it. Everyone have a right for his/her opinion. But an opinion isn't a reason nor a right to attack a person. I think in that way, maybe is naive, maybe is stupid but is the way I think about this kind of matters.

In the case of Reiq is the well-know double moral, so typical american. A boob is bad, a good butt is bad, sexualism is bad, hot chicks is bad... and everything relate to the must simple must nature part of Human Nature: Sex.

The 'Boobs are too big', the 'sexy drawings are so disgusting'... 'You're a pervert', 'This is porn'... Those kind of comments are so... so... Gaia Online, so from brats... Is amazing that people, adult people can spend time in write comments like those... Is incredible in the bad sense of the word. And the most funny thing is that the damn character already have boobs that big. I was seeing today official art from the game and truely... And the most even sad thing about this is, maybe, the majority of detractors of that pic are the same guys who plays Soul Calibur with a tool in the pant, delighted with Ivy or some other fighters game with another chick with good boobs.

That is what happen when you're popular: people find a way or reason to attack you in a way or another. I won't enter in the envy matter, but always is a reason more far away than the simple habit to make a comment.


In the other hand, we have SeedyDeeDee, being a target only 'cause a mod thought was a good idea to give her a DD. Isn't less isn't more. Someone suggested, someone approved. Is only that... She didn't ask for that and sure, she doesn't deserve the comments like: The light is bad, the composition is simple or, the winner, you use Poser, so you don't deserve it.

Point by point. That picture, with Predator vs. Alien Mommy, is in the DD 'cause the mod liked it. DD aren't the Oscars of Art. Pictures aren't there 'cause are the best ones. They are there 'cause the mod that rules over that gallery liked them. That's a point, irrefutable. They are there 'cause are interesting, 'cause are good in a sense or other... If only the pros, the best ones could be there, DD will have no sense: everybody knows the pros.

Personal I think is a good picture, love the background, the composition, the light, is sinister, interesting... But If I don't like it, never tell the artist 'You don't deserve this' 'cause she didn't ask for that. If you're not agree, note the mod.

I saw there a really big comment of someone that must be thinking he's the real deal 'cause only was he talking about was 'You don't deserve this for this, this and this reason and I'm better than you'. That's the most stupid thing I never ever read. If you want so badly a DD, you thinks is the Oscar for you, ask a friend to suggest you, don't bitch in other artists works.

One of the point of this... Complainant was that she uses Poser and those are dolls, is not an effort, blah, blah, blah... Funny, but I read something like that from ten years old brats in Gaia Online about Photoshop, about Corel... If you decide to use a digital media, you're bad and the program magically do all the job. Sure, was sarcarm... I have Poser and I must to say that I can't use the damn program in the way I want. If SeedyDeeDee can use that program in that amazing way with those amazing models and create art, hurra for her. Is just a tool, like a pencil, like oleo paitings... Is just a tool.

That make me remember a thing I read some weeks ago thanks to journal about a thing, a crap like this that was happened to another pro artist around here. His way to doing art is taking photos... from a street, from... you know, he goes with the camera and takes a photo and then he use photoshop to make those amazing, increible pieces of real art... and they are complete different from the photos in the begin. But, if he uses references, he's bad, evil and... you know... even when the photos were took by him in person.

New technologies, new ways, ladies and gentlemen. Aren't those art for that? Of course not... In the first place, since art is art, artists used references for their works, today don't change that. And tools are only tools... I don't know the magic bottom in Photoshop to have my picture colored nor drawer, so...

Well... That... Only a few words for the end, my last two cents:

First: Don't let DA transform into a second Gaia Online, please... Where if you don't draw manga anime characters with Lolita's faces they don't give you a crap or where the digital artist is considered a cheat.

Second: Hakuna Matata, boys and girls. Live and let live... If you don't have something nice to say (note: a constructive critique is a nice thing, only watch the ways) say nothing. Good for you, good for the artist... Transform yourself into a troll isn't good.

Third: Be open-minded, please. We are not children, not all almost and a nude, a naked person, big boobs or sexy characters aren't bad. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder so be careful trying to make difference between good and bad and I like it or not.

And fourth: And this is for me... Please, when you see a drawing of an original or semi-original character think twice when you want to say something like 'She could look better with smaller boobs' or 'Take out the freckles'. Maybe the character have those things 'cause she or he's just right that.
